Red Naconas färg är inte bara vackert kopparglänsande utan också ovanlig bland Nokota®hästarna. Bland många andra raser är fux en vanlig färg men hos Nokotan står fuxarna fortfarande ut även om de blir mer vanliga och Red Naconas mörkare fuxton är hon i stort sett ensam om. Nu är ju Red Nacona även konstantskimmel och smälter in något mer än de ytterst få rena fuxar som föds i rasen. Men till skillnad från sin dotter smälter både Blue Bird och Night Nacona mycket väl in bland Nokota®hästarna i North Dakota.

Night Nacona är svart och hade det inte varit för en liten vit fläck på hennes ena bakhovs balle och en något hängande läpp hade hon varit svår att skilja från alla de andra svarta skönheterna på Kuntz Ranch, särskilt som hon är en lugn märr som inte gör mycket väsen av sig.

We lack a good photo of Night Nacona who so often herself is hard to distinguish but often gives foals with lots of character, like Red Nacona’s half sister by her mother’s sided in this picture.

Red Nacona’s color is not only beautifully copper shimmering but also unusual among the Nokota® horses. In many other breeds chestnut is a common color but among the Nokotas® the chestnuts still stand out even if they’re increasing and Red Nacona is quite special with her dark “smutty” hue. Although she is also roan and thus fits in a bit better than the very few, pure chestnuts that are born in the breed. But unlike their daughter both Blue Bird and Night Nacona are not at all as easy to pick out in the big herds in North Dakota.

Night Nacona is a black, quiet mare and had it not been for a small white spot on her one back bulb and a somewhat hanging lip she would have been hard to distinguish among all the other black beauties on the Kuntz Ranch.
